Google Business Profile and social setup

The sign-in connectors: local reviews from your Business Profile, plus reviews and DMs from your social accounts.

The easy ones

These are a sign-in and a picker. No keys, no files, nothing to generate. If you have just come from the Apple page, this will feel like a holiday.

You do need to be an admin or manager of whatever you are connecting. You cannot grant access you do not have.

Google Business Profile is live today. Facebook, Instagram and TikTok are coming soon: Meta and TikTok both gate the permissions we need behind their own app review, so the rest of this page describes how those connectors will work once that clears.

Google Business Profile

Integrations → Google Business Profile, sign in with the Google account that manages the profile, then choose which locations to pull.

If you run several locations, connect them all. The inbox keeps them separate and analytics can break results down per location.

This is the connector where response time is most visible. A local review is read by someone deciding where to go this afternoon, and an unanswered one-star sits at the top of your profile until somebody deals with it.

Facebook and Instagram

Connect through Meta and pick the pages or accounts you manage. One Meta sign-in can cover both, and adding a second page later reuses the connection instead of asking for consent again.

These bring in two kinds of thing:

  • Reviews and recommendations on your page, handled like any other review.
  • Direct messages, which are conversations rather than one-off posts.

TikTok

Sign in with the TikTok account and pick it. Two or three minutes, nothing to upload.

TikTok has no reviews and no star ratings, so what comes in is the comments on the videos you post, handled like the comments on a Facebook or Instagram post. Because there is no rating attached, TikTok rows never move your average rating; they sit in the inbox as feedback to answer.

Replies post back as a reply on the comment. TikTok caps a comment at 150 characters, so drafts are written to fit rather than being refused at send time.

There are no direct messages on this connector. The DM rules below are Meta only.

If the connector reports a missing comment permission, that is TikTok withholding comment access rather than anything wrong with your account. The error names the permission instead of showing a raw code.

How Facebook and Instagram direct messages are handled

A DM thread is one row in the inbox, not one row per message. Open it and you get the transcript, with the whole exchange in order.

Two rules keep the inbox honest:

  • A thread where only your side has spoken shows as a single placeholder row rather than pretending a customer wrote to you. When a real message arrives, the placeholder is replaced.
  • A thread reply is only recorded if it was actually delivered. If the connector cannot post live, the reply is rejected rather than saved as sent, so the transcript only ever shows messages the customer received.

Replies to DMs are drafted with the conversation as context, not just the last message.

Several accounts on one Meta login

If two of your Instagram accounts share a Meta login, the inbox still keeps their conversations apart. Messages are scoped to the connected app they arrived on, so a thread on one account cannot swallow the other's.

That sounds obvious. It is the kind of thing that quietly breaks in tools that assume one business equals one page.
